We have a longstanding history of serving Erie, PA.

Our agency was founded in 1926 by Sam Shepard as an independent insurance agency. Under the leadership of David Cronk, we started out with a small staff of three employees for years, while several acquisitions of smaller agencies in the ’80s and early ’90s followed. In 1992, Erik, Dave’s son, joined the agency and in 1995 Brian Johnson joined, establishing what is now Cronk Insurance Inc. Dave retired in 2004 with his son Erik taking over as agency president and owner.

We’ve grown over the years.

From 2011 to 2019, we merged with Bay Area Insurance Services, and Phillips-Wisniewski Agency, adding new team members to the Cronk Insurance Inc. family. More recently, in 2021, we acquired the Werle & Rushe Insurance Agency, an established Erie Insurance agency that dates back to the 1950s. Having been in business for years, we’re proud to offer independent insurance, as well as have a history that has been rooted in strength, being better—together.
